Pastor Tom Cash whose main background is in the Charismatic Church, at the age of 21, had a significant “born again” experience in the passenger seat of an old Ford Mustang.
After years of trying to hide that fact that he was a gay man, he entered into a reparative therapy program that was a 24/7 live-in situation for four years. Having become disillusioned with “Religious Christianity”, he left the church for many years. He held on to his relationship with God during a time of self-destructive behavior and eventually the Holy Spirit led him to Glory Tabernacle Christian Center in Long Beach California where he discovered he could be gay and Christian. Tom and his husband Mike Zukoski eventually relocated to Asheville North Carolina where they attended Abundant Grace Church in Granite Falls, North Carolina and was later ordained by Pastor David Thomas. Pastor Tom founded and pastors Jesus People Church of Asheville and hosts the annual "Out to the Nations Conference" which has hosted prominent speakers in the LGBTQ Christian Movement. Being a survivor of "reparative therapy", Tom hopes to help other LGBTQ people who struggle in the area of being LGBT and Christian to know that God created them just the way there are! |
